Read

Surprise in Manchester… or not! One must be really missing a lot of matches from Manchester United to struggle to understand performances as the ones we’ve seen recently, from the constant rollercoaster, to the good starts and/or ends but the hollow in the middle… And this match versus Fulham FC was another sample. A good start, a few good build-ups and chances but… no goal! And the team is getting to a point where the goal in the right moments… Read

A cliché. Everyone is aware of this. But understanding is something different. Shall we start by assuming that Football is a business, and like any business, relationships drive opportunities? Seems fair to assume that. Therefore, it’s also possible to assume that you can have all the Tactical Knowledge in the World, the best Scouting Reports, or even a UEFA Pro License, but if you’re not connected to the right people, your chances of breaking into top-level Football shrink dramatically. The… Read

9 points (potentially, 12 points with the leader Al Dhafra still having a match to play) separate United FC from the 2nd position (currently Fujairah, with the same 36 points as Al Dhafra but with the same number of matches played) and, after this win, Hatta is 8 points away from them. Naturally, with 13 matches to go (or 39 points) looking for Promotion is very plausible, of course. However, it’s been a journey where they could have positioned themselves,… Read

Best performance so far (offensively)… until Dorgu got sent-off! Mobility. Multiple breaking-lines passes (those that connect directly from the defender to the striker and virtually delete the opposing team’s pressing with offensive and midfielders). Bruno flying, Zirkzee finding the right space, Garnacho and Dorgu connected on the left (I think Garnacho respected Dorgu’s overlaps for the first time), Yoro and De Ligt opting for simple offensive processes and very aggressive on the pressing of the opponents. An almost perfect synch… Read

This Match was another representation of the growth and development of the Game not only in UAE but in the Region. It was a great and competitive Match in Dubai, with different strategies from both teams, even if when observing the Formation it was somehow similar with both teams opting for a line of 4 Defenders, 2 holding Midfielders, 3 Attacking Midfielders and 1 Striker. Although UAE made a slight adaptation during the 2nd half, in a more GK+4+1+4+1 due… Read

Disclaimer: I’m biased. No doubts. For me, Ruben is one of the best Coaches and certainly the right Coach for a Club with the dimension of Manchester United. Not (only) because he’s Portuguese, but because I’ve studied him intensively for the past years, seen his growth, strategies and errors. He can change, definitely, just like Guardiola did. But, if so, he will lose me just like I lost some interest in observing Pep’s teams. With that said, there’s been a… Read

For those that are not familiar with the roots of Football, Scouting and Recruitment are the lifeblood of any successful Football Club or Academy. They ensure a steady flow of talent by identifying, assessing, and nurturing players with the potential to excel. It happened before and continues to be the same, even if in a different proportion and with different tools. The old days were less robust, potentially less accurate, surely less data driven. It was more about the observers experience,… Read

“Manchester United lost again.” It’s recurrent this message. And, for some, may be harder with the weeks passing by, to believe this is the way ahead. With this Style of Play. With this Coach. Definitely, with these players. I would agree, until some extent – which is the players. Definitely, not with these players. Some, at least. Watching the starting XI, we could already feel that it would be hard in some areas, but Tottenham is not going through their… Read

I was looking for this match with particular interest. I have been watching these teams for the last months and I expect to see developments, progress, players developing, teams being more consistent, etc. Naturally, each team’s starting point was different. Al Wasl, is currently at 6th in the table whereas Al Nasr has been navigating at the last positions of the table. Therefore, the expectations were somehow pending to a home win. Theoretically. Because derby’s always bring an emotional aspect… Read
