Separated by over 100km, but belonging to the same Emirate, Al Wahda and Al Ain played another derby! Here again, the expectation is high. Firstly, because was my first time observing Al Wahda U18’s Team. Secondly, a derby is always a derby, regardless of the age group or country. Everyone wants to win. Specially when someone is playing against the League Leaders, and definitely one of the strongest contenders to win the Emirates Cup of this age – Al Ain.… Read

At times, it seemed a Friendly Match. A Game with a pre-defined Non-agression pact. The first shot to the goal was made after minute 30 and the teams seemed very comfortable with that outcome. United presented a team full of new-players, with Fredricson, Amass, Mainoo at the starting XI. Very good surprises, specially Fredricson! His stats were amazing, winning 80% of his duels, both in the air and ground, and with pass accuracy well above 90%, securing a memorable performance.… Read

United FC got them in a position where they could take a decisive step towards an unique Promotion, achieving their goal of being the first Private Football Club reaching the UAE’s Top Division – ADNOC Pro League. A win would get them with 42 points, the 2nd position with a safer point advantage from the other teams competing for Promotion (Al Dhafra is now leading the League with 47 and very comfortable to reach Promotion). Although the remaining teams fighting… Read

Manchester United was able to proceed to the Semi-finals of Europa League after a dramatic Game against Olympique Lyon, at Old Trafford. What a roller coaster that was! What atmosphere!! After the 1st Leg, as I wrote here, my understanding was that United was capable of winning this Game and the 1st half was showing that, after an amazing first 15 minutes. Then, Lyon took over the match and United struggled (again). Then, last 10/15 minutes United is back on… Read

To explain Paris Saint-Germain’s Game Model is a true challenge. Not only because of its complexity of movements and options avaliable, but also because it brings the old discussion of “what Beautiful Football really means?” Well, I don’t have the answer. No one has, in my opinion. Football is the greatest Sport in the World exactly for that uniqueness of multiple factors: And, probably others. However, if we take a closer look to all of the ones at this list,… Read

Intense and emotional match was waiting, with Shabab Al Ahli getting the winner-goal at minute 91’! However, this match showed way more than that! Before starting this match analysis, I will focus on providing an insight that is important when analyzing Youth Football – the age of the athletes (by year and by month). Although both teams have 10 players born in 2009 and only one in 2010 (Al Wasl player born in August 2010 and Shabab’s in April 2010),… Read

In my last text about Manchester United’s reality on how to face this Game against Newcastle United, it was clear what I thought to be more important for this specific moment.More than winning. My words were simple: “to keep the moral up and get all ready for next week’s Europa League match.” Meaning: don’t get jeopardized now. The problem?Amorim thought about squad management, time management, resting some players and “protecting” others. And, on the way there, he forgot (and me… Read

Disappointing performance would be the first thing I wanted to state. The amount of passes lost (under no pressure), the incapacity to be fluid when in possession, bad decisions, bad pressing strategy, bad finishing. There was a bit of all against a talented French side, with an amazing Game Strategy. But, being totally fair, the team is much better. This disappointment has no comparison with the disappointment we had a few months back. The team was still able to be… Read

The expectation for this match was big! The teams were separated by 3 points only, with Al Ain traveling to Dubai attempting to keep their leading position at the table untouched. On the other hand, Shabab Al Ahli wanted to take this opportunity to show their talents and provide a push of excitement and uncertainty to the League, if they could win this match. The match itself was, as expected, intense and tough for both teams, and emotionally demanding! Shabab… Read

In my last few months in Dubai, I’ve been observing different matches and age groups in different levels. That created countless questions in my head. From what I’ve been witnessing since 2015 to today what are the main differences? What has been done in terms of player, or coach, or Club development? Then, there was this particular match that created a kind of “Aha moment” that made me think about the teams in Dubai, that I’ve been more consistent to observe,… Read
