There’s no different path.

Eventually, someone will feel that is time to go somewhere else, regardless the reasons, and you will be left alone.

Some will hurt more than others, but they may all make you question your direction.

This is the central point – when you question yourself.

Questions come in different ways and formats:
. Do you understand why they left ?
. Do you agree with the reasons mentioned ?

. Could you do something to prevent this ?

. Do you want to do something about it ?

. Does this impact your Direction, your ability to win ?

. Are you weaker now ?

. What about the team, how would that be impacting them ?

. And the Club, the Players, the Parents – how will this be perceived ?

. Can the Club keep the trajectory defined ?

You see, it start with very selfish patterns or questions, and eventually you get out of your bubble, starting to think about the broader impact that creates these moves.

As Sir Alex Ferguson puts it:
. Does the Coach make me better ?
. Can he/she make me win ?
. Is he/she loyal ?

Now, once you get to all these questions, at the last point specially, you might feel disappointed or betrayed.

For some, you’ll feel that.

Others, will be a relief.

However, it’s this Emotional Management, the Emotional Intelligence of being able to understand that we all have different routes and paths ahead, and that somehow the Universe has a direction to all, including you.

THIS IS THE GREATEST CHALLENGE!

In the great majority of the times, it’s not personal – it’s not against YOU.

As peace trades aren’t achieved from one day to the next, the majority of breakups (professional or personal) are there after a good amount of small details, or moments, that set you apart from each other – and some of them you may not even be in control, or responsible, or even present.

Therefore, focus on the impact of the Direction, the Vision.

It’s the Vision that will keep you alive, it’s the Vision that will keep you fighting for your desired state, towards your Objectives, your Goals.

If you keep focusing on that, someone leaving will be just another day – you’ll be back to your pursue soon enough.

However, if there are deeper roots in some of the separations, you need to stop and consider your Direction – as in Business and Club Management, we all need to MONITOR & EVALUATE, and eventually to READJUST.

We all need to do this, from time to time – Monitor our Strategies, Evaluate our Progress, and eventually Readjust!

I have set a clear Guideline Path towards my Objectives, with things I want to achieve in 1 to 3 Years, from 3 to 5, from 5 to 7 and, finally, up to 10 years.

Because my Understanding is that I wouldn’t be able to be considered an Authority in Football Club Management in 6 months or 1 Year – but what (or who) can prevent me to be the best in 10 years ?

And that, with the right set kind of Strategies, with the right Intentions and Studies to support me, will be very hard to deny my influence.

Additionally, it prevents any anxiety or pressure – once I Understand that it’s a Process, with a clear Guideline, there’s no rush or precipitation in any Decision-Making.

It won’t be tomorrow, but it will come.

That makes a significant difference, to me.

I always repeat this, but it’s really clear for me – know yourself first, then know where you want to go, with whom.

All becomes very clear after that.

I’ve recently launched My First Season on Club Management, where we will delve into the different Processes & Departments. We’ve developed a few tools that will help Clubs to Organize things better, in a more Sustainable way, providing Cohesion and Consistency throughout the Club – from the President to the Ground Staff, from Strategy, Finance or Technical Departments, here we will be discussing the most relevant ways to add Value to all your Community.
