As in personal life, financial or entrepreneurial mannerisms, compounding has an underestimated power.

Truly.

Compounding is the process where returns — financial or otherwise — generate further returns over time, creating exponential growth. 

In finance, or investments, it’s earning interest on your interest. 

In life, a long-term relationship, supported with the right intentions, care and shared values, provides deeper connections with people, either by the form of a long and happy marriage, friendships or even professional trust and confidence. 

In the same way in Football, it’s the same principles: consistent investment in the right Culture, Values and Vision, but also in Players Profile, Staff, Facilities, and Talent multiplies results. 

A club that reinvests revenues from Youth Development, Sponsorships, or Ticket Sales into smarter Scouting, better Coaching, and stronger Operations will see its Performance and Value grow consistently and faster than one chasing quick fixes, reacting to the market or context.

Just as Developing a Young Player, building a Sustainable Football Business is about small, disciplined actions that, over time, compound into major success on and off the pitch.

However, it’s very hard to find Clubs doing things in a sustainable way.

Yes, Consistency and Sustainability are key elements for Compounding.

Why?

Consistency provides the grit to be there every day.

Consistency makes the benchmark reliable.

And all of the these, provide sustainable performances.

Sustainable expectations, and sustainable results.

And it all merges small daily actions, small daily decisions.

If the President, Executive Committee, and the Heads of Strategy, Financial, Operations, Human Resources or TLC (will develop this in a another text soon), Talent Recruitment or Scouting, Technical Department, and all the others at the Club – if they all meet regularly, communicate with their respective teams regularly, design the Vision, align Objectives and define hierarchy of those dreamed achievements – it becomes automatic that the team absorbs all this information in a natural, organic way.

And there’s no better way to let compound work.

Small daily actions, compounding over a sustained period of time (that are normally several months or years) to see the results.

As mentioned many times here, the roller always runs the same way – Plan, Strategy, Actions Plan, Behaviors, Results, Analysis, Reassessment of the Plan, Strategy, Actions Plan, Behaviors, Results, Analysis, Reassessment of the Plan, and start over. 

Non-stop.

Understanding the desired Point B is crucial.

The key lies in starting early, staying consistent, and being patient.

No good thing will arrive (and sustain) out of nowhere.

Or, in the rare cases it does, make sure you’re ready to make it sustainable.
