At times, it seemed a Friendly Match.
A Game with a pre-defined Non-agression pact.
The first shot to the goal was made after minute 30 and the teams seemed very comfortable with that outcome.
United presented a team full of new-players, with Fredricson, Amass, Mainoo at the starting XI.
Very good surprises, specially Fredricson!
His stats were amazing, winning 80% of his duels, both in the air and ground, and with pass accuracy well above 90%, securing a memorable performance.
Not bad for the 20 years old!
In comparison, Lindelöf had only 33% of duels won.
Mazraoui, as normal, was a regular, trustworthy player. Solid performance, with slightly higher than 70% of duels won and a pass accuracy above 90% as well.
The fact that the 3 defenders (plus the side backs) all had such amazing percentages on pass accuracy shows exactly what I mentioned before – a non-aggression pact.
Amass, on the left-side, also presented a good performance with close to 70% of duels won and a pass accuracy of almost 90%.
Naturally, he didn’t had the same influence on the offensive dynamics of the team, also wasn’t feed the way he could be served at all the overlaps did.
On the opposite side, Dorgu (at this match playing on the right side) had a pass accuracy of 80% and duels of almost 75%.
He’s not being as influential on the attacking dynamics as one should expect, but he’s very reliable to the teams’s compactness.
That’s a very important characteristic now, at this particular United’s moment.
Just like Dalot.
You can trust them.
In the middle of the field, Ugarte and Erikson, an attempt from Ruben to have some kind of pressing capacity and delivery quality.
It was OK, to be honest.
Both had a passing accuracy closer to 90% (again, a merge of lack of pressing from Wolves and individual quality from both) and Ugarte won 66% of his duels, while Erikson won 56%.
Upfront, a few surprises.
The first, of having Garnacho for the 90 minutes.
The second, having Kobbie there, when one could expect Mount to have more minutes than the usual 30 minutes he’s getting almost every match.
The third, to add some stats, the duo plus Højlund made only 3 shots (1 each) and none on target, had an average of successful dribbles way below 50% (Højlund had 50%, Garnacho 33% and Kobbie 0%) and a pass accuracy of 83%.
Additionally, all together, had 38 duels, both aerial or ground, and won only 9 of those (or 24%).
And these data, without being a complete surprise, specially the lack of shooting amount or accuracy from United forwards, summarizes the Game.
A Game where both teams seemed satisfied with the draw.
Understandably, of course.
Wolves are finally stable and Vitor Pereira (amazing Coach) is already planning next Season.
United just wants the weeks to pass by, with Europa Leagues’ on their mind.
Therefore, from the Game, we can take some good news.
Fredricson is on the squad, presumably to stay!
Very good performance, confident, reliable!
It will definitely have an impact when considering the market, when Ruben knows that besides the seniors De Ligt, Yoro, Maguire, Martinez and even Mazraoui, he can have Heaven and Fredricson to support.
Secondly, Kobbie getting minutes is very important.
He can be a very important player for the Club, now and in the future, and having him fit is a must.
Thirdly, another week goes by and Amad may be closer to return.
That would be another great news, even knowing he may never get fit for the rest of the Season, as he will also need a few weeks to get in shape.
However, United needs alternatives.
Ruben needs to look at the bench and know that he has options.
We look to a week ahead now, with time to rest and prepare the Game away against Bournemouth and, most importantly, to have the team set for Athletic Bilbao just a few days after that match!
Fingers crossed!
And you?
How are you seeing United’s team developing?
