The landscape of football coaching is rapidly evolving, driven by technological advancements that are reshaping how we train athletes.

Ronaldo (R9) said recently that he believes now that the reasons behind his various injuries may be due to the lack of training knowledge and methodologies applied when he was a player.

I believe he was talking about all the work that is, now, done not only inside the field, but specially outside the field – from injury prevention, conditioning and strength, pilates, yoga, nutrition and sleep care.

In sum, all the extra-work that was not considered and nurtured as it is today, just as the amount of information that Clubs now have that previous generations didn’t access to, from how much each player runs and at what pace/speed to the workload analysis, etc.

“My injuries are related to our training methods at the time.

It was very bad.”
Ronaldo Phenomenon

Training Methodologies have evolved, aligned with the quantitative growth of registered coaches, university courses, students, etc.

Also, truth to be said, becoming a coach is now sexier than it was before.

Eventually, the technological tools like video analysis software, performance tracking devices, and virtual reality training programs are becoming essential components of modern coaching.

These technologies provide coaches with valuable insights into player performance, enabling personalized training regimens that target specific areas for improvement.

Moreover, they facilitate real-time feedback, allowing players to adjust their techniques during training.

And these kind of trend in training sessions, the pre, after, during feedback allows a potential impact that is greater than the majority of the recent revolutions in training methodologies.

As an example, the training methodologies development was almost always related to some coach or team that was successful, then studied and finally spread around the world.

The likes of Arrigo Sachi, Holland, Barcelona, Jose Mourinho, Pep Guardiola or Jürgen Klopp are easy to understand at distance and to relate to my previous narrative.

These kind of technologies, ultimately allows coaches to create a more data-driven approach to player development, enhancing both individual skills and team dynamics.

Definitely, it directly impacts the decision-making process.

A more informative decision, certainly.

The future of Football Coaching lies in the seamless integration of technology and traditional methodologies, paving the way for a new generation of athletes.

A generation of probably more global players, more knowledge of the Game, and less specific to roles or positions.

Benefits of these approach?
For Coaches, definitely, as they will have better informed players on the field.

For players, yes at some extent, as they will feel more certain about their decisions.

However, until when is enough?

In terms of information, what is the limit?

At what age the information is enough, necessary or a simple luxury?

Additionally, for spectators… Not really sure!

Simply because, from what we’ve been witnessing, most likely will have an impact on creativity.

Let’s wait and see.
